SALTED CARAMEL (THOMSON) T.R.Y. #1

Mid-week treat to Salted Caramel. Two Scoops of Ice Cream with Waffles ($10.40). Two Scoops ($6.40) + Waffle ($4). There is a choice of Brownies too. Good thing is that they do not have “Premium” flavours, so all flavours cost the same.

On the scale of 1-10, 1 being the worst, 10 being the best.

T: Ambience: 7 Ice cream1: (Lemon Meringue) 5 Ice cream2: (Reversi) 5 Waffle: 4 Value: 5 Overall comments: I’d rather eat McDonalds, and I don’t want to eat McDonalds. Quiet place though.

R: Ambience: 6 Ice cream1: (Gold Digger) 8 Ice cream2: (Bailey) 6 Waffle: 5 Value: 7 Overall comments: Not crowded. Service was decent. Been here a few times but the waffle this time was not up to par. Sadly the overall wow factor is not there anymore. But price still decent.

Y:(ME) Ambience: 7 Ice cream1: (Gold Digger) 7 Ice cream2: (Speculoos) 6 Waffle: 4.5 Value: 5 Overall comments: Comfortable and clean environment. Not crowded. Disappointed with the waffles, tough to cut into, taste was decent, texture was mediocre, it was very slightly harder than it is suppose to be crispy.

Ice cream flavours among us, [(average), rated by me] Speculoos: 6 [decent, not too flavourful but not too bland] Gold Digger: (7.5) [ You can hardly go wrong with chocolate, but this flavour melted to quickly. My waffle became infused with chocolate, when the Speculoos melted significantly slower.] Lemon Merigue: 3.5 [Sad excuse of an ice cream, barely tasted any hint of lemon. R says tasted like Hand soap, artificial lemon LOL] Baileys: 5 [ Might be biased because I generally dislike alcoholic flavours] Reversi: 6 [ Chocolate again, hardly go wrong but the chocolate is not as rich as Gold digger, might be biased as well because I like my Chocolate ice cream rich and creamy.]

With so many other ice cream parlours, at similar price points, I honestly do not see myself visiting Salted Caramel again or at least anytime soon. The quality of food was such a let down, that the swift service, peaceful environment is unable to redeem the store itself. For food, to me, is the preeminent factor for a cafe.
